Amr Hanafi, Governor of the Red Sea visited the victims of the submarine, which sank, Thursday.
The submarine was carrying 45 tourists, in addition to the Egyptian crew, resulting in deaths and injuries of various nationalities.
The Red Sea Governor revealed that the incident began when the governorate's operations room received a report that a tourist submarine had sunk in its designated dock in front of a famous hotel in Hurghada.
The submarine had 50 passengers of various nationalities on board, including 5 Egyptians of the crew, and 45 others of various nationalities, including Russians, Indians, Norwegians, and Swedes. The ambulance operations room and relevant authorities were immediately notified, and they arrived at the scene.
The efforts of the relevant authorities succeeded in transporting 29 injured people to hospitals, including six deaths among foreigners (Russian nationals). The remaining survivors returned to their hotels after their health improved, and there was no missing persons reported.
In this context, about 21 ambulances participated in providing first aid to the passengers immediately after their rescue.
The injuries varied from wounds, bruises, abrasions, and shortness of breath. Four cases remain in critical condition in intensive care.
The Red Sea Governor monitored the accident from the very first moment and directed the formation of an operations room comprised of various relevant authorities.
The Governor confirmed that he had reviewed the submarine's technical status and determined that its license was valid and that the crew commander had the required academic certifications from the Academy of Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.
He explained that the submarine is owned by an Egyptian, noting that the relevant authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident with the crew.
