The Mavericks are returning to Central New York this year, and they’re bringing a country music star with them.

Dwight Yoakam will perform at the Turning Stone Event Center in Verona, N.Y., on Friday, Sept. 12. Special guests The Mavericks will open the concert at 8 p.m.

Tickets go on sale Friday, May 23, at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster. An artist presale will begin Tuesday and another presale will begin Thursday for TS Rewards members.

Yoakam is a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and actor whose western country sound combines country, rock, hillbilly and bluegrass music. He’s sold more than 26 million albums featuring songs like “Ain’t That Lonely Yet,” “Streets of Bakersfield,” “Honky Tonk Man,” “Fast as You,” “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere” and “Guitars, Cadillacs.” He also curates the Bakersfield Beats radio station on SiriusXM and has collaborated with artists like Willie Nelson, Post Malone and Patty Loveless.

At the same time, Yoakam is known for his appearances in movies and TV shows like “Sling Blade,” “Panic Room,” “Wedding Crashers,” “Crank,” “Under the Dome,” “Logan Lucky,” and “Goliath.” He also wrote and directed 2008’s “South of Heaven, West of Hell,” starring Billy Bob Thornton, Vince Vaughn, Bridget Fonda and Peter Fonda.

The Mavericks are a Grammy-winning band that combines country, rock, R&B, Latin and roots music on hits like “All You Ever Do is Bring Me Down,” “Dance the Night Away” and “Here Comes the Rain.” The Raul Malo-led group performed in English and in Spanish at the New York State Fair in 2023 and co-headlined last year’s Syracuse Jazz Fest.
