Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has been enrolled into the Niger State Contributory Health Scheme, code named NiCARE.
This was done by the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Sulayman Abu-bakar, at the Council Chamber of Government House, Minna.
He highlighted the importance and benefits of such a scheme and encouraged the people, especially those from the formal sector, to explore the opportunity.
The Governor, who applauded the Executive Secretary of NiCARE for bringing transformation in the Agency, and increasing the number of enrolments, enjoined all stakeholders to take ownership of the scheme, adding that public trust is public wealth.
Niger State Deputy Comrade Yakubu Garba and the Secretary to the State Government Abubakar Usman were also enrolled into the Scheme by the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Sulayman Abu-bakar.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of NiCARE, Dr. Sulayman Abu-bakar, in a PowerPoint presentation, recounted the numerous achievements the Agency had recorded since the beginning of the present administration.
He explained that the Agency has been able to introduce a productivity award system where it awarded 3 hardworking staff, revised its operational guidelines, which resulted in an increase in the number of its directorates from 5 to 6, introduced an equity fund, a private sector plan, and an incentive system, among others.
He said due to the Political will of the Governor and his support to NiCARE, the total enrolment has increased from 53,000 to 139,000, representing over 160% increment.
