Singapore Issues Safety Alert as 1,330 Height Violations Uncover
(MENAFN) Singapore's Ministry of Manpower issued a safety alert on Tuesday, highlighting the risks of working at heights, following the discovery of over 1,330 safety violations during recent inspections. Between February and April, around 550 worksites in sectors like construction, marine, and manufacturing were inspected, focusing specifically on height-related safety measures. As a result, 13 Stop Work Orders were issued.
Falls from heights remain one of the leading causes of severe and fatal workplace injuries. In 2024, four workers lost their lives, and 74 others suffered serious injuries due to such accidents.
The ministry stressed the need for continuous vigilance from employers, contractors, supervisors, and workers, urging that unsafe practices be reported to ensure safer working conditions.
